Financial planning is not just about money and numbers though; it is also about your values and perspectives in life.
Financial planning involves a coaching process to help you manage your wealth in a comprehensive manner.
Where you are now and where you want to be
To best help you, we need to learn:
- What keeps you up late at night?
- What are your saving and spending habits?
- How satisfied are you with your career?
- What do you want to do better today?
- Is there something in your life you want to improve right now?
- Have you needed to confront realities you didn’t expect to happen?
- If money is not an issue, do you want to help out a charity?
These are a few examples of the kinds of questions we all come to face at some point in time throughout our lives.
As your Financial Planner, our role is to help you:

We can help you put the pieces together to create the big picture you can achieve. As your financial planner, we advise you on matters you may not think of. These could be in the short-term, medium or long-term.
We help you identify risks and opportunities relevant to you. We help you leverage financial tools, such as insurance and various kinds of investment vehicles to build an appropriate portfolio for you.
We help you develop a financial plan that guides you through each phase of your life. Working with CM Financial Group is an engaging process and an educational journey for us all.
Put our knowledge of financial products and services to work for you
We can help you better understand the financial tools that are available to you, such as the various kinds of insurance plans and investment vehicles from RRSPs and RESPs to TFSAs and RDSPs. We will explain the programs behind these acronyms and walk you through scenarios, graphs and charts to bring clarity to your understanding. It is only natural that you may have questions such as:
How much do I need to save to meet my goals?
How can I protect my savings against a bad market?
Do I need insurance?
Should I use my extra money to pay off the mortgage, or put more into my RRSP?
What investments are best suited to me to provide the income I need … in 10, 15 or 20 years?
I have set up plans — how do I know if I am on the right path?
Some of these questions are not so easily answered because looking many years into the future can be daunting. The key is to accept that we are working with many variables such as income, market fluctuations (that impact on returns), health and other individual considerations. Together, we examine each variable and create “what if” scenarios to help you align your portfolio closer to your goals.
